Why choose Podia-Clinic for your and orthotic needs?
Because we have used our extensive experience to source an excellent manufacturer that makes devices precisely how we want them made for you.
What do orthoses do?
Quite simply they help your feet work more efficiently. This is achieved by support to certain joint function in the feet but mainly by redistributing forces and stresses that may occur in the feet, ankles, knees and hips as you walk. This redistribution is important and one result from this is often less fatigue when walking, pain relief to the feet ankles and knees. They sometimes have a positive benefit on the hip and back as well
Devices Orthoses come in many different shapes, sizes, thicknesses and materials. It is our Podiatrists role to determine which type most suits your need. Part of this decision process occurs during the assessment and casting when our Podiatrist, Ian, considers what types of alteration and how much alteration needs to occur with each step you take. Below are some of the types available.
Children

Children may well have a need for encouragement of good foot function. The devices we supply are made specifically for children and not simply adult types cut down to size.
As part of our commitment to you we insist that when obtaining devices for your child you also take up the outgrowth insurance.
This costs a small amount extra but means you do not have the cost of a new pair devices to find for the next two years. At the rate children's feet grow this can be reassuring.
Sport, Leisure and Football
Sporting and Leisure requirements may well be able to use more normal orthoses. However some activities require a specific device unique to an individual sporting shoe. This can be the case, for example, with football boots. A standard device is too large or the edge affects the trajectory of the ball as it strikes it. Our Holland Soccer device is designed with the close fitting boot in mind and made to each individual foot and shoe.
Diabetes

People with diabetes may also benefit from appropriate shoe inserts that take account of some of the specific issues that can affect their feet. Our manufacturer, Allied OSI, produce devices from materials suitable to many of the needs a diabetic foot has.
